📺 Down the Tubis with Buzz DrainpipeA brief, flickering escape from the sludge pile…

🎞️ The Last Time I Committed Suicide (1997)

Buzz leans back, cigarette smoke curling into the glow of a dying CRT:

“This one’s not trash… it just hangs around trash.”

Directed by Stephen T. Kay and orbiting the ghost of Neal Cassady, this film is less a narrative and more a confessional drift. Thomas Jane plays Cassady like a man constantly mid-sentence—restless, romantic, and already fading.

It’s soaked in that pre-digital loneliness—letters, long pauses, bad decisions made in soft lighting. Not quite On the Road energy, more like the hangover after it.

Buzz verdict:
“Feels like finding a box of someone else’s memories at a bus stop. You don’t take it—but you think about it later.”

🎞️ The Mysteries of Pittsburgh (2008)

Cue the next tape—colors brighter, but something still off:

“Ah, the illusion of choice… early adulthood as a decorative object.”

Based on the novel by Michael Chabon, this one drifts through a post-college summer where everything feels important and meaningless at the same time. Jon Foster plays Art, stuck between paths, people, and personalities—especially the chaotic pull of Peter Sarsgaard’s wildcard energy.

It looks like an indie dream—sunlight, parties, possibility—but underneath is that quiet panic: what now?

Buzz verdict:
“Like flipping through a photo album where everyone’s smiling—but you remember the fights that happened right after.”

📼 Buzz Drainpipe Final Transmission

“Two films about drifting… one before you know you’re lost, and one after you should’ve figured it out.”

  • 1997 gives you raw impulse—identity forming in real time

  • 2008 gives you post-identity confusion—too many selves, none sticking

Neither is “Tubis trash.”
But both feel like they ended up there anyway… late-night artifacts waiting to be rediscovered between static bursts and bad decisions.
