BUZZ DRAINPIPE (marginal note, written in the gutter with a dying pen)
NOSTALGIA IS A SOFT TYRANNY
Nostalgia pretends to be memory, but it behaves like policy.
It rewards obedience. It punishes deviation. It tells you which emotions are authorized and which ones are counterfeit.
It does not ask what happened—it asks where you belong.
That’s why it smells faintly of disinfectant and old carpet glue.
That’s why it makes children nauseous before they know the word.
The past is not a homeland.
It is a scrapyard with active voltage.
LIBRARIES ARE NOT NEUTRAL (manifesto fragment)
Museums freeze culture into posture.
Libraries assume misuse.
A museum says: This is what it meant.
A library says: Good luck—bring it back altered.
I reject cultural velvet ropes.
I reject the idea that art requires permission slips.
Everything ever made is available for engagement. Nothing is available for cosplay identity theft.
There is a difference:
Appropriation is ventriloquism.
Appreciation is friction.
I loot the past, the present, and the future because time does not belong to itself.
I do not preserve artifacts.
I extract procedures.
If nostalgia is preservation, then the library is sabotage.
SLOW CINEMA AS LABOR REFUSAL (streaming-era field note)
The most radical thing you can do in a streaming environment is refuse efficiency.
Length becomes defiance.
Silence becomes unpaid labor returned to the viewer.
Mood replaces plot because plot has been fully monetized.
This is not anti-audience.
It is anti-optimization.
When a series refuses to hurry, it exposes the lie that speed equals relevance.
When it uses the past as circuitry instead of shrine, it proves that influence is not inheritance—it is reuse under pressure.
Slow cinema does not ask for patience.
It forces the system to wait.
CLOSING NOTE (folded into the back pocket)
I don’t remember because I want to go back.
I remember to extract tools.
I don’t believe media belongs to demographics.
I believe it belongs to readers.
Nostalgia wants loyalty.
I offer literacy.
The archive is open.
Nothing is sacred.
Everything is usable.
Dream in terminal green.
